Kusala is a medical graduate of the University of Colombo and has worked 17 years in the field of Histopathology within Sri Lanka and Australia.  She has gained a wide range of experiences in Gastroenterology, Histopathology and Cytopathology but of her own admission she has an avid interest and extensive knowledge in  Gastroenterology.

“My interest in gastro-pathology stemmed from my MD thesis based on Hirschsprung disease. This research improved pathological assessment  in this paediatric gastrointestinal condition”

Kusala spent 6 years working as a Histopathologist in Australia. Her work at Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania regularly saw her reporting on Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal biopsies and she has conducted regular clinicopathological meetings   with Gastroenterologists over a three year period. In addition to this, she has conducted Surgical and Oncology meetings in the Launceston and Royal Hobart  Hospitals.

Sri Lanka appointments:

  • Consultant Histopathologist – Teaching Hospital of Kandy (4 years)
  • Consultant Histopathologist – The National Hospital Colombo (5  years)

She is a member of the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia, Australian Society of Cytology, College of Pathologists Sri Lanka and the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists.

Kusala is a highly motivated and enthusiastic Histopathologist and is looking forward to expanding her pathology career, concentrating on Gastrointestinal and Gynaecological pathology with the InfinityPath team.
